The Silk Road was a system of trade routes that connected Asia, Europe, and North Africa. It was called the silk road because silk fabric was an important trade item dating back to the second century B.C.E.

Our history starts with silk. My grandfather Werner Klaas (who founded Testfabrics) was a trained silk textile engineer who specialized in silk neck ware. He designed the first multifiber fabric, based on the construction of a silk tie.
